Irish Grand National Connection
On Easter Monday in 1916 the local horse All Sorts won the Irish Grand National. All Sorts was from Bishoptown Stud in Streamstown and had to walk the 60kms home to Streamstown as all trains had stopped as a result of the rising.
Located in the village is a pub, post office and national school, as well as a hadball allery which represents an interesting artefact of cultural and social importance to the local community.
